Buying Tips
All that you do as a seller will be reacted to by the potential buyer. So what happens when you're the buyer?
The answer is that hopefully your seller will behave in exactly the way you would expect to, were the roles reversed. You expect that they
will probe your problems and the situations in which these problems exist; that they will offer solutions that remove your most pressing problems and not just pitch
the items that their Manager is pushing them on this week.
You expect that they will make considered suggestions and check both your understanding and reaction; that they will address any concerns you may have
regarding their suggestions; that they will check your opinion of the worth of the solution in terms of what value it would be to you to no longer suffer the
consequences of the problem, and that they will set their prices accordingly.
But if this doesn't happen, you must be prepared to exert your control over the conversation - You don't need to gain control because you always had
it! You need to educate the poor sales person in the ways of 21st Century, win-win, long-term relationship selling.
You might even recommend that we get in touch with their Sales Director to offer practical advice and assistance, so take two of their cards and pass
one on to me!
